Google debuts new Pixels, updates Google Photo editor
Google introduced the Pixel 4a (5G) and Pixel 5 smartphones. These phones improve Pixel’s leading photography features to the next level.
- The cameras come with an ultrawide lens alongside the standard rear camera.
- Pixel 4a (5G) and Pixel 5 come with Cinematic Pan, which gives videos a professional look with ultrasmooth panning that’s inspired by the equipment Hollywood directors use.
- Night Sight into Portrait Mode captures blurred backgrounds in Portraits even in extremely low light.
- Portrait Mode on the Pixel 4a (5G) and Pixel 5 captures beautiful portraits that focus on your subject as the background fades into a blur.
New photo editor
Google also introduced a new Photo Editor for Google Photo apps. The update adds two new AI-powered photo-editing tools: a one-tap editing feature tailoring suggestions to a specific photo and an intelligent ‘Portrait Light’ feature allowing for lighting adjustments post-capture.
The one-tap edits are an extension of Google’s two-year-old suggestions feature. For now, the suggestions only includes three options—Color Pop, Black-and-White, and Enhance—but more suggestions are coming for other common photo situations.
Portrait Light is only available on the new Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a for now, with compatibility rolling out to more Pixel devices “soon.” The feature allows you to change the direction and intensity of a light source post-capture.
